Today Alberto García-Alix is sometimes referred to as "the greatest contemporary Spanish photographer". Beginning his artistic work in 1976, after the death of General Franco, Alberto García-Alix is considered from the 1980s onwards as one of the main actors of the Movida cultural movement, although he defends himself and presents himself as a marginal photographer: underground nightlife, rock'n'roll, bikers, drug addicts, porn stars: "I had the feeling that I was living the movida on the front line but I never photographed it. I didn't intend to. I was content to photograph my instinctual surroundings, which were more underground. "Alberto García-Alix, quoted by Le Figaro 5 July 2007Award-winner of the Spanish National Photography Prize (1999), he has had more than thirty exhibitions and published in major fashion magazines (Vogue, Vanity Fair). Recognized in the contemporary art world, his works are now present in several museums in Spain and he exhibits all over the world.
