Paul VERLAINE. "Hombres" (Men). Printed under the cloak and - Lot 425
Paul VERLAINE. "Hombres" (Men). Printed under the cloak and not sold anywhere [Paris, Albert Messein, ca. 1903]. In-8 of 2 ff., 48 pages and 2 ff., green half-chagrin with corners, spine ornamented, tan paper cover preserved, printed in gold (period binding). First edition. Edition of 25 copies on Japon impérial and 500 copies on fine laid paper and not on Hollande, as indicated in the justification, numbered in pen. On the back of the false-title is written: Femmes, 1 vol. in-18 jésus, printed at 500 copies on Hollande and 25 copies on Japon. One of 475 copies on laid paper. We do not find here the defect that Chevrel describes, in his preface to La Trilogie Érotique, 1907, concerning pages 6 and 10, but an error in the folio of pages 46 and 48. Pia 601, Dutel 397.
