[Body Rituals] Alfred FROHNER - Peter GORSEN. Körperrituale - Lot 403
[Body Rituals] Alfred FROHNER - Peter GORSEN. Körperrituale , Jugend und Volk, Wien, Munchen, 1975. Volume in-4 of 252 pages (case). In 1962 Frohner (1934-2007), together with Hermann Nitsch and Otto Mühl, founded Vienna Actionism with the campaign and manifesto "Blutorgel". A little later Frohner broke away from the Actionists because he did not want to work in front of an audience. During another stay in Paris, Frohner worked in the studio of Daniel Spoerri, the most important representative of the "New Realists". Since the early 1960s, Frohner's work has been shown in major galleries and museums around the world, including the Venice Biennale in 1970, and the Künstlerhaus in Vienna in 1993. Adolf Frohner, who most recently lived in Vienna and Lower Austria, has received numerous awards, including the Austrian State Prize in 1972. After his early phase of actionist work and material images, Frohner increasingly focused on painting and drawing. The subjects of his images, mainly tied up and raped women as symbols of violence, continue to recall his early actionist work. Joint: Peter WEIBEL - Valie EXPORT. Wien, Bildkompendium wiener aktionismus und film herausgegeben von Peter Weibel unter mitarbeit von Valie Export, Kohlkunstverlag, 1970.
