Félix Jacques-Antoine MOULIN (1802-1879), attributed to. Beh - Lot 45
Félix Jacques-Antoine MOULIN (1802-1879), attributed to. Behind the tall grass, ca. 1855. Stereoscopic daguerreotype finely enhanced in color, produced on 1/3 or 2/6 plate, 8.8 x 16.8 cm. This is Pauline Sophie Lacroix (1839-1914), first arrested in 1857. She spent a month in Saint-Lazare prison for posing for François Lepage. Often smiling in her photographs, she was one of the most photographed nude models of the 1850s-60s. The setting is very similar to that of the image published in Serge Nazarieff, Le Nu stéréoscopique 1850-1930, Filipacchi, 1985, no. 30, reproduced on page 46. Nazarieff attributes this image to Moulin. Provenance: Uwe Scheid Collection. Label on reverse: "Uwe Scheid, sammlung 1.059". Serge Nazarieff Collection, Geneva. Bibliography: Rainer Wick, Sammlung Uwe Scheid, Die Erotische daguerréotypie, Weingarten, 1989, reproduced on page 56. Serge Nazarieff. Le Nu stéréoscopique 1850-1930, Filipacchi, 1985, no. 72, reproduced on page 80. Denis Pellerin, Le Nu stéréoscopique, les modèles et leur histoire, BEA + Polyverlags AG, 2020, pages 80-102.
