Dominique VIVANT-DENON. Priapic work, circa 1920. 30 engravings, 50 x 32 cm per sheet. In 1802, Dominique Vivant-Denon (1747-1825) was appointed by Napoleon I, Director General of the Musée Central des Arts (1804 Musée Napoléon), now the Louvre. It was to be "the largest, richest and most magnificent museum in the world". For his emperor, he passionately organized one of the largest "movements" of 19th century art objects.
