JIM and miscellaneous. Bondages, circa 1950. Brown percaline - Lot 212
JIM and miscellaneous. Bondages, circa 1950. Brown percaline album, 26 x 35 cm, containing 17 drawings in ink, watercolour and pencil, most of them 21 x 29.7 cm. The drawings are unsigned. But some are attributed to Jim, the mysterious artist who illustrated many books and periodicals sold by mail order through Irving Klaw's Nutrix company in the 1950s, along with Stanton, Ruiz and Eneg. His most famous heroine remains Baroness Steel. According to https://www.lambiek.net/artists/j/jim.htm, even Klaw didn't know her identity. He could have been from Geneva, worked as a technical draftsman for a design company, and also signed with the pseudonym Gil. He died in 1964.
