Don Brennus ALÉRA (1872-1968). L'Amant des chaussure, Select - Lot 262
Don Brennus ALÉRA (1872-1968). L'Amant des chaussure, Select-Library, 1910. Volume in-16 of 352 pages, hardcover. Illustrated cover preserved and trimmed. Illustrated. Seal: Bernard VALONNES, Miss High Heels, Select-library no. 61, Seals, 1929. Volume in-16 of 142 pages and one catalogue page, hardcover. Illustrated. For the BnF, the identity of this mysterious writer, publisher, translator and even illustrator is no longer a mystery. He was Paul Guérard, born in Ancy-le-Franc (Yonne) on June 20, 1872, and died in Paris, 15th arrondissement (France) on June 11, 1968. He hid under the pseudonyms of Roland Brévannes, Jean d'Agerur, Doctor Brennus, Don Brennus Aléra, Don Brennus de Mellum, Bernard Valonnes, Pierrot, and probably others... A freemason, journalist in the South-East of France, his biography, with its perfumes of sulphur and stupefaction, remains to be written.
