André-Robert Andréa de NERCIAT. Le Diable au corps, posthumo - Lot 151
André-Robert Andréa de NERCIAT. Le Diable au corps, posthumous work, by the very recommendable Dr. Cazzoné, extraordinary member of the joyful Phallo-coïropygoglottonomic Faculty. With figures. Volume I, [- second.] [- third.], 1803. Three volumes in-8, of X, 253 pp., 252 pp. and 234 pages, red half-marquin with corners, spines with ribs decorated with mosaic quatrefoils, gilt edges (old binding). Real first edition, very rare in this format, of this work of the knight Robert Andréa de Nerciat, published in 1803, that is to say three years after the death of its author, in Mézières by a printer named Frémont. It is printed on superfine laid paper or wove paper and decorated with 20 framed engravings attributed to Claude Bomet. Andréa de Nerciat wrote Le Diable au Corps a few years before the Revolution. A first version was published in 1785 under the title Les Écarts du tempérament. On the back of the false-title pages is the mention: Only a small number of copies of this original edition were printed in this format, and very few on wove paper, with figures before the letter (Cohen 750. G*** 494. G-L 1-887. Hell 427 to 429. Perceau 3-1. R.P. 179. M.S. 93. P.C. 28, Pia 331. Ars erotica 535 to 543. Eros Undefeated 44. G.N. April 15 with the coloured figures. Dutel A-271)
