Alfred FROHNER - Peter GORSEN. Körperrituale [Body Rituals], - Lot 240
Alfred FROHNER - Peter GORSEN. Körperrituale [Body Rituals], Jugend und Volk, Wien, Munchen, 1975. Volume in-4 of 252 pages, black cardboard at the bradel (case). Special edition B, to which the 5-wheel "tear-off attempts" are linked. In 1962 Frohner (1934-2007), together with Hermann Nitsch and Otto Mühl, founded Vienna Actionism with the campaign and manifesto "Blutorgel". A little later Frohner separated from the actionists because he didn't want to work in front of an audience. During another stay in Paris Frohner worked in the studio of Daniel Spoerri, the most important representative of the "New Realists". Since the early 1960s, Frohner's work has been shown in major galleries and museums around the world, including the Venice Biennale in 1970 and the Künstlerhaus in Viennen in 1993. Adolf Frohner, who has recently lived in Vienna and Lower Austria, has received numerous awards, including the Austrian State Prize in 1972. After his first phase of action work and material images, Frohner increasingly concentrated on painting and drawing. The subjects of his images, mainly women tied up and raped as symbols of violence, continue to recall his beginnings in actionism.
