Jim AMARAL (born 1933). Untitled, 1974. Pencil and watercolo - Lot 197
Jim AMARAL (born 1933). Untitled, 1974. Pencil and watercolour drawing signed and dated, 30 x 24 cm, set in a slipcase revealing a glass eye, evoking surrealist bindings. Originally from California, Amaral settled permanently in Colombia in the early 1960s, a country from which he draws all his inspiration. In his 40-year career, Amaral has explored drawing, painting and sculpture. His perfectionist and meticulous side is reflected in his work as a sculptor: like a goldsmith, he builds small bronze pieces, tables, chairs and boxes, where he mixes antique and modern elements. He has produced about 300 works, some of which are on display at MoMA.
