CURIOSA. The Hours of Paphos, Moral Tales, by a Priest of Venus. 1787. [the whole engraved in the centre of a decoration]. In-4, 26 x 17,5 cm of 37 ff. engraved in intaglio. Original edition, consisting of an illustrated title and 12 engravings in the spirit of Desrais. The text pages are engraved on both sides and not the figures. The work contains twelve tales in verse: Le Moignon de l'invalide, La Simplicité rustique, Le Jardinier et sa femme, Le Bâton de pommade, La Messe de quatre heures, La Jouissance de soi-même, L'Écrevisse, Damon Urseline, Les deux n'en font qu'un, Le Dévotement, Lisette Capucin and La Servante du curé. Each tale is preceded by an engraving bearing the title of the tale it illustrates, except for the one relating to the tale entitled La Jouissance de soi-même, which has the caption La Consolation d'un veuf.
