Perfume burner bronze, brown patina of circular form, decorated with three heads of winged putti, surmounted by three volute-shaped holds; the tripod base composed of three marine horses Northern Italy, early 17th century Height: 7 cm (cast iron defects, the lid missing) A copy of the same model, formerly attributed to Giuseppe de Levi (1552-c. 1611), has kept its lid surmounted by a seated Putto (Musei Civici, Padua, inv. 262). It has three small ducts indicating the function of the bronze, otherwise comparable to some models of inkwells (cf. D. Banzato, F. Pellegrini, Bronzi e placchette dei Musei Civici di Padova, Padua, 1989, pp. 117-118).
