Bull - Lot 55
Bull bronze, brown patina; on a later white and yellow marble base Probably France, 17th century, after Giambologna (1529-1608) Height : 21,5 cm (total) : 21,5 cm ; ht. (bronze) : 11,5 cm (wear to the patina, small dents) This bull with the head turned to the right derives from a model of Giambologna, this one with the head turned to the left, of which a copy is in Florence, at the Museo Nazionale di Roma. in Florence, at the Museo Nazionale del Bargello (inv. 287; height 22 cm). Another example of the bull with the head turned to the right, whose cast is described as Florentine described as Florentine of the sixteenth century, is in the Walters Art Museum, Baltimore (inv. 54.149; height 11.4 cm); another one described as 17th-century French, attributed to Barthélemy Prieur, is in the Fundación Lázaro Galdino, Madrid (inv. 2.044; height 12 cm).
