Jean-Pierre MAURY (1932-2021). At night, the embrace of the - Lot 35
Jean-Pierre MAURY (1932-2021). At night, the embrace of the vampire. Polychrome sculpture in mixed technique, 47 x 50 x 10 cm. Accidents. Ignored by the general public, the work of the sculptor Jean-Pierre Maury was mostly known in the Tropezian microcosm (he had a house there), the world of cinema and entertainment. And for good reason. Official moulder of Dali and César, he made portraits of Johnny Hallyday, Charles Aznavour, Bourvil, Lino Ventura, Yves Montand, Boby Lapointe, Claude François, Georges Moustaki, Jean Yanne, Pierre Perret, Henri Salvador, Silvia Monfort, Sylvie Vartan, Sheila, Annie Cordy, Fernand Raynaud, Françoise Hardy, among others: see numbers 464 to 470. Legend has it that it was by taking the mold of Gunther Sachs' sex from him that Caesar, who was his friend, made his superb cup that has become famous. Many of his works were exhibited in the Museum of Eroticism, which closed a few years ago.
