Jean-Philippe Fackler Colonel of the Engineers and benefactor of the Library and Museum of Selestat in Strasbourg, Alsace. Jean-Philippe Fackler was born in 1893 in Paris. He returned to Saint-Cyr and then the First World War broke out, he volunteered for the Northern Front. Seriously wounded, he was sent to Switzerland for treatment. He recovered and returned to the University of Lausanne on October 24, 1917. When the war ended, he was assigned to the 1st Engineer Regiment. Jean-Philippe Fackler was noticed for his writings, in particular on the "Laws of compression in air compressors" in 1929. After the Second World War, Jean-Philippe Fackler was appointed director of the Centre scientifique et technique du bâtiment. Jean-Philippe Fackler was awarded the Legion of Honor, the Croix de Guerre (14-18) and the Croix de Guerre (39-45) during his lifetime. He died in Paris in 1965. The lot that we present goes through the life of Jean-Philippe Fackler (1911-1959). It is composed of his student papers (card and prize received), his business card when he was appointed director of the scientific and technical center of the building. A scientific notebook with photographs (30) and handwritten captions showing the replacement of wooden poles by reinforced concrete pylons for the electrical network, as well as the completed substations/plants in the towns of Avaux, Saint Brice and Vrigny in September 1939. We also enclose numerous photographs: portrait of Jean-Philippe Fackler as a young man, portrait of him and his young wife. Jean-Philippe Fackler in uniform of the 1st and 2nd world war, group portraits of his regiment, as well as photographs of his scientific works.
