Pierre-Ambroise RICHEBOURG (1810-1875) or Auguste BELLOC (18 - Lot 39
Pierre-Ambroise RICHEBOURG (1810-1875) or Auguste BELLOC (1805-1873), attributed to. Study of a female nude, circa 1854. Stereoscopic daguerreotype enhanced in color, produced on 1/3 or 2/6 plate, 8.5 x 17.2 cm. The model is believed to be Sophie Joséphine Alexandrine Cardot, born in 1843. According to Denis Pellerin's research, Alexandrine was first arrested in 1860, and sentenced to 15 days in prison. In October, she was arrested again for posing at the Gouin and Castaings studios. After a third conviction, she stopped modeling around 1861. In 1865, she married painter and photographer Jules Collard, brother of photographer Hippolyte Augustin Collard. It seems that she became a photographer for a few years. Her first husband died in 1867, and she married a Dutch merchant in 1889. Although Nazarieff does not attribute the image, he confirms that the bedspread is the same as in image no. 38, which he attributes to Pierre-Ambroise Richebourg or Auguste Belloc. Provenance: Serge Nazarieff Collection, Geneva. Bibliography: Serge Nazarieff. Le Nu stéréoscopique, 1850-1930, Filipacchi, 1985, reproduced page 52, no. 39.
