DAGUERRÉOTYPE. Désiré François MILLET. Young naval officer, circa 1855. Daguerreotype, 15 x 11 cm on view, under glass: 17 x 21 cm. Millet, rue Montesquieu. Millet opened his first daguerreotype studio around 1850 on rue du Coq Saint-Honoré, then moved to rue Montesquieu from 1854 to 1860. He produced numerous portraits and reports from the Camp de Satory in 1853, and the August 15, 1854 fête at the Tuileries when the regiments left for the Crimea.
