PULSOCON by Dr. Gerald Macaura. A device which, according to - Lot 380
PULSOCON by Dr. Gerald Macaura. A device which, according to Macaura, would help women relax and improve their blood circulation. Macaura patented a blood circulator in the USA in 1902. His Pulsocon is operated by turning the crank on one side of the device and, depending on the speed at which the crank is turned, can produce up to 5,000 vibrations per minute. The device can also be fitted with additional attachments of any shape required, and presents itself as a remedy for many illnesses. It was very successful for a long time. While in Paris in 1914, French doctors argued against the efficacy of Pulsocon's curative effects, and Gerald Macaura was sentenced to three years in prison for fraud. He was not a doctor as he claimed. However, during his one-year stay in prison, he reportedly earned $75,000 from the sale of Pulsocon.
