BRASSARD DE BORDEAUX. RESTORATION. Gardes royaux à pied, Royal Foot Guards founded in 1814. Armband in white moiré silk edged with green satin and embroidered with a crest in gold canetille and sequins, embroidered in the center in green thread "Bordeaux 12 mars 1814". Silver passementerie bangs. Age wear. Presented framed under glass with attribution to "Jean Dubroca garde d'honneur du bataillon des volontaires de la Gironde". A.B.E. First Restoration period. Under the Restoration, a royal guard was created to complement the military household in protecting the King of France. The royal guard was considered an elite army corps, made up of veteran soldiers and intended to serve as a reserve for the royal army during battles.
