Landing of British troops in New York. Battle of Harlem Heights, September 16, 1776, during the American Revolutionary War. Optical views, also known as views, perspectives or "mondo nuovo", were popular engravings in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. They were intended to be observed through a set of several mirrors or by means of a Zygrascope, an instrument consisting of a mirror and a lens.
