[Alfred de MUSSET] A. de M. - [Louis BERTHOMMÉ SAINT-ANDRÉ]. Gamiani ou Deux nuits d'excès. Aux dépens d'un amateur [Marcel Lubineau], 1930. In-8 of 2 ff., 98 pp, 1 f., purple half-chagrin, cover printed in purple. Illustrated with 16 original out-of-text lithographs and 6 headbands or vignettes by Louis Berthommé Saint-André. Limited edition of 551 copies, one of 500 on Rives vellum. Dutel states: "This edition is much more beautiful than the new edition that Berthommé Saint-André illustrated a dozen years later." Berthommé Saint-André trained with Cormon and Laurens at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In the first half of the 20th century, some ten titles are attributed to him. They were often republished, probably without his approval. Like many authors and protagonists of "clandestine erotic literature" - Aragon, Mac Orlan, Malraux, Pia, etc. - he was one of the most fertile writers of the 20th century. - one of curiosa's most prolific illustrators took an active part in the Resistance, refusing to submit to an order that didn't suit him.
